The NIG is lowering the age limit for the fourth Corona vaccination to 65 years. However, there is not yet a general booster recommendation for all ages.
Waiting for a vaccine is not reasonable
The National Immunization Panel (NIG) continues to make no general recommendation for a fourth Corona vaccination. However, the age limit for one will now be lowered from 80 to 65 years, the “Ö1” midday Journal reported.
NIG: Recommendation for the fourth sting for over-65s.
A fourth prick is recommended for those at risk and vulnerable. Upon personal request, booster vaccination is possible for all persons four months after the third vaccination; it is advised to have an interval of six months.
Vaccination expert Herwig Kollaritsch also recommends a booster vaccination four to six months after infection. He said, “Ö1”. Those infected with Corona without symptoms should have another vaccination four to six months after the third sting.
Specific plans for the 4th booster are expected this week
The NIG’s current recommendation for use is currently with the Ministry of Health for review, “Ö1” reported. In turn, the department said that deliberations in the NIG were still ongoing.
“We do not have a final version yet. We expect this in the coming days,” said press spokesman Thomas Neubauer. When the update is available, it will be “actively communicated.”
